Red Dead Redemption Review
« on: November 11, 2010, 06:44:06 pm »
Initially when Rockstar Games announced that they had a wild west game set in the early 20th Century that was in development, majority of Rockstar's fans thought that this game called "Red Dead Redemption" was Grand Theft Auto with horses that was set in the year of 1911, luckily Rockstar proved these critics wrong with possibly the best game seen across all consoles since the release of Halo and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

While Red Dead Redemption or "RDR" for short has only been out for a couple of months it already has a handful of game add-ons for both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles. Some of which have to be bought and some of which are "on the house" from Rockstar Games. The packs released to date are listed below.

Outlaws to the End - Free Downloadable Content.
Legends and Killers Pack - Costs 800 Microsoft Points/$9.99 on PSN
Liars and Cheats Pack - Costs 800 Microsoft Points/$9.99 on PSN
Hunters and Traders Pack - Free Downloadable Content.
Undead Nightmare Pack - Costs 800 Microsoft Points/$9.99 on PSN

There are a few bugs with Red Dead Redemption, but hey what game doesn't have bugs? Don't be thrown off by these bugs as i have almost 60 hours of gameplay in Single Player and i have only come across four bugs which where very minor. Kudos to Rockstar Games for the level of testing they take their games to.

The Verdict:

If you are a fan of the "Grand Theft Auto" Series then this game is for you. I guarantee that this game will take your breath away with its stunning graphics and sheer extent of gameplay. While there are a few bugs present in the game they will not effect you in anyway, most of the bugs that i have come across aim towards the enviroment and NPC's, not at you.

Presentation: 10/10 - Everything about the Presentation of Red Dead Redemption will blow you away whether you like the game or not.

Gameplay: 9.6/10 - A lot of things in Red Dead Redemption will keep you coming for more even if you have racked up 100+ of game hours - and that's just single player. The reason why this is not 10/10 is because early on in the games' history you did not have a lot of options in multiplayer, however that has been addressed with the game packs.

Graphics: 9.8/10 - The graphics are stunning, as if you were watching a HD movie. However there are a few graphical bugs that arise from time to time which have the habit of bringing you back to Earth and that reminds you that your playing a game, not watching a movie.

Audio: 9.9/10 - The characters voices and sound effects across the whole game are top notch and it really puts into perspective that Rockstar Games have done it right. After all who wouldn't if you spend $100 million US on creating perhaps the best game ever released by Rockstar Games.

Lasting Impression: 9.8 - 10
